Energy Wise Space Heating Programs
Save on your energy bill when you participate in Energy Wise space heating programs. There are solutions to fit your needs including dual fuel and short- and long-term storage heating. Benefits include one-time rebates and credit on your energy bill. In return, you agree to limited periods of time when power to your electric heating system is cut off.
When you choose dual fuel, your primary source of heat is electric with a backup propane or fuel oil system. A wood furnace does not qualify as a secondary heat source because it is reliable only when you are home.
Storage heat is a good choice for many homeowners. A medium such as ceramic brick or sand stores heat rather than using a secondary fossil fuel heating system.
There are two storage heating programs to choose from. Short-term storage requires an all-electric storage system sized to handle at least eight hours of interruption.
Long-term electric thermal storage heating (ETS) requires the use of a storage furnace. A good choice for long-term is a 100 percent efficient Steffes electric thermal storage (ETS) system.
