The Facility Charge
Whether you use electricity every day or turn it off for the season, the poles and wires remain. A portion of your share of the investment cost of your electric service is recovered in the facility charge. It includes:
- Utility poles
- Wires
- Transformers
- Meters
- Right-of-way acquisition
- Maintenance
- Property taxes
- Substations
- Line equipment
The other part of your bill is your kWh charge. That is the cost of the electricity you use. You can control those costs by conserving energy.
