Note: A new meter is required when starting service with new construction.
Starting your application for new service:
- Complete the New Service Application.
- Review and sign the Terms & Conditions on the application.
- The New Service fee is $536.88 (including tax)
- This fee is non-refundable and covers a portion of the actual cost to provide new service
- Once your application is received, it will be processed and your new account number will be emailed to you within three business days
- After receiving your new account number, you will be able to log into SmartHub to register for an online account (Optional)
- Payment of your New Service fee is available on SmartHub, via phone at (800) 552-7622, or by mail to our office at:

Note: A security deposit of $200 may be applicable based on your utility history and will be refunded with interest to your electric account after 12 months of consistent on-time payment.
- Once your New Service fee is paid:
- A Staking Technician will call you to schedule a time to meet you on your property to help determine the best options for your electric service
- Contact your Electrician to have them begin their work. See the Who Owns What image below to determine the member’s side of the service:

- After meeting with your Staking Technician:
- The following requirements, if applicable, must be completed before we can proceed:
- Right of Way (ROW) easements
- Private easements give LREC permission to install and maintain electrical equipment on adjoining properties
- Clear the ROW
- Site grading must be done prior to installation of electric service
- Pay all invoiced LREC Aid to Construction charges
- Right of Way (ROW) easements
- The following requirements, if applicable, must be completed before we can proceed:
- Prior to meter installation (Electrical permit required):
- Your electrician must call LREC once the property is ready for final connection and provide the permit information
- If new service is wired by the owner, the owner is responsible for contacting the State Electrical Inspector to complete the service installation inspection. Once completed, the Inspector must provide LREC with a copy of the official approval.
- Additional New Service information:
- When available, provide LREC with the new service property address
- After completion of LREC new service, the monthly facility charge will apply, regardless of progress by an outside electrician.
